RPM Ventures was founded in 2000 under the name Waypoint Ventures. However, our strategy of National Specialist and Regional Generalist is based on our core principle of leveraging what we are the best in the world at in the Midwest. To better reflect this, we changed our name to RPM Ventures in 2006. An RPM gauge indicates how hard your engine is working, a characteristic and industry long associated with the Midwest.
Additionally, with early stage companies and university spinouts, speed to market is a critical component. The name RPM truly reflects both our fundamental philosophy of working hard to support our entrepreneurs and portfolio companies as well as our dedication to helping create high growth early stage companies.
