Building a Company Based on Intellectual Property

When building a technology company, there are two paths you can take based on which type of startup you have: intellectual property or execution-based. Understanding where your company falls helps set the company’s direction and helps decide how to manage your startup.
Categorizing your concept as obvious or non-obvious and the technical solution to that concept as trivial or non-trivial is a key step. With a technology or product concept that is obvious and a trivial solution, you’re executing an idea that can be created by anyone else and is easy to implement.
